4 Felonious Bitcoin Miners Busted in Malaysia

Malaysian police force managed to sink a colossal illicit crypto mining cartel involving over 441 Bitcoin mining hardware. The crypto industry’s mining process has attracted a lot of attention over the years due to the rewards coming with it. Bitcoin’s value has experienced a major growth over the last couple of months and even managed to capture the attention of the world.

In addition, BTC mining rewards have also seen an increase therefore seducing more individuals into it. However, this has come with lots of setbacks. While many have expressed their concerns regarding the environmental damages mining Bitcoin causes, governments all over the globe have been worried about electricity power thefts.

Malaysian Illicit Bitcoin Mining Crackdown

Mining Bitcoin consumes a lot of electric power making it difficult for a mere person to execute. The Malaysian state of Penang police force, nabbed a crypto mining rig. They seized a total of 441 mining machines that were used in mining Bitcoin. These machines were worth a whooping RM 180,000.

The nabbing force had conducted a total of FOUR raids and managed to capture four suspects linked with the casebitvo go out. George Town OCPD assistant commissioner, Sofian Santong heightened on the same and stated,

“During the raids at Lintang Hajjah Rehmah, Jelutong, Sungai Dua, and Bayan Lepas, police also confiscated four computers, 11 routers, four modems, and 10 fans.”

The police booked the aforementioned suspects under Section 379. And Section 427 of the Penal code along with Section 37 of the Electricity Supply Act 1990.

Moreover, the police found that all the raided places were stealing electricity to conduct Bitcoin mining activities. The Tenaga National Berhad (TNB) had even incurred losses of up to RM420,000.

While the mastermind behind the entire plot is still on the run. The Malaysian police force has been intensively scouring Malaysia for this person for the last couple of months.
